
Hypertext is a method of organizing text, graphics and other kinds of
data so that data elements point to one another, both
within a single document and across other documents. Users can follow links in
a non-linear fashion, as opposed to reading only line by line, page by
page, in a predetermined order. Hypertext structure underlies the data on the
World Wide Web.
